Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain (aka Amélie) is one of the most heart-warming and delighful films to watch. Since the movie first came out in 2001 it became a pop culture phenomenon making people from all around the world fall in love with its unique heroine. If you are a fan of Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s masterpiece, you will surely enjoy these equally quirky and adorable movies.
Les Emotifs Anonymes (2010), Jean-Pierre Améris
If you love the romance in Amélie, you’ll be pleaseantly surprised with Les Emotifs Anonymes. In this 2010 french production, Angélique – a gifted chocolatier finds a new job at Monsier Jean René’s chocolate factory. Both of them are pathologically timid, yet madly in love with each other. Will they be able to live happily ever after? You have to watch to find out.
About Time (2013), Richard Curtis

One of my favourites of this list, About Time is an unconventional rom-com directed by the one and only: Richard Curtis. The story follows our hero Tim Lake that, at the age of 21 discovers he can travel back in time. An original take on the classic romance film, About Time is a beautiful homage to love and life. It is also an excellent movie for fans of Amélie. In fact, at the beginning of the film we can see spot a huge Amélie poster on Tim’s bed. The kid surely has good taste in movies.
The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), Wes Anderson

If you are looking for artistic films, Wes Anderson is your man. One of Hollywood’s most creative directors, Anderson is known for movies such as Fantastic Mr. Fox, Darjeeling Limited and Moonrise Kingdom. One of my favourites is The Grand Budapest Hotel. The movie follows the adventures of Gustave H, a concierge at the hotel and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his friend. It is a beautiful cinematic experience and like in every Wes Anderson movie the cinematography is incredible. Similarly to Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Anderson’s style is unique and instantly recognizable.
The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet (2013), Jean-Pierre Jeunet
If you feel like watching something from the man himself, The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet might just do the trick. One of his most recent works, the film follows the story of a 12-year-old scientist that sees his life turnt upside-down when he receives a call to receive a prestigious award. Moving and entertaining in equal parts, this film is fabulous for any Amélie fan.
This Beautiful Fantastic (2016), Simon Aboud
And last, but certainly not least we have another British production: This Beautiful Fantastic directed by Simon Aboud. The movie tells the story of an introvert librarian who dreams of becoming a published author. Eventually she starts a friendship with the grumpy widower that lives right next to her. The relationship between Bella Brown and her neighbour resembles that of Amélie and Monsieur Dufayel. Although the plot is a bit predictable, it surely does not ruin the experience.
